We have signed our lease! We can announce that our location will be at 3142 E. Michigan Ave., Suite F in Lansing, Michigan. Hooked, a new independent bookstore, coffee shop, and wine bar, will not open until early Spring 2022, but you can see our future location being built. We will have a ground floor space in the Gateway Lofts apartments in the new Red Cedar development.
We will be centrally located in the region, in the Capital City, bordering East Lansing, and east of 127:
Closer in, you can see that the development is connected to the Michigan State University campus and just south of the Frandor shopping area. We will be fronting Michigan Avenue, which is the main corridor connecting the three miles from campus directly to the state Capitol building (along the busiest CATA bus route):
The Red Cedar development includes the new University Edge student apartments and will include a senior living building, two hotels, and our building: the Gateway Lofts apartments. We'll be in the corner suite circled below. Red Cedar is situated in a revamped runoff drainage area, with two lakes and a series of streams to clean water before it enters the Red Cedar River. The development will also include an amphitheater and dog parks, with a trail network connecting to the Lansing River Trail.
It is all under construction now, including the new road and patio around the development. You can drive by and see the progress:
We will reveal more of our plans as we get started, but we wanted to give you a taste of how Hooked will look inside. From the Michigan Ave. front, you'll be able to peak into our bar and cafe area, which will incorporate Spartan themes and counter service:
Hooked will also be a full general interest bookstore, with a kids area and special coverage of current affairs. We will have plenty of large windows filling the space with natural light. There will be a second entrance for parking in the back.
